Katie and Marc met at a summer camp for a non-profit organization they are a part of in 2018, serving as evening volunteers. They enjoyed working with the kids, supervising the games, and talking to each other. Afterward, the two made plans to watch Get Out after Katie said she never saw the movie all the way through and watched a number of clips about it. They continued to hang out until they went on their first date. Fast forward, Marc asked Katie, "Will you marry me?" and she said "Yes!"
