A little over ten years ago, we were both working at Camp Laughing Waters for the summer. Kaitlyn was still under 18, so dating was off the table—friends it was. That summer, she spent most of her free nights wherever Kayla happened to be. From there, we went on to make countless memories together as “just friends”: sneaking out of camp for late-night pizza, catching Broadway shows, watching fireworks from the roof of an old apartment, and so many more moments in between. But over time, something started to feel different. We both wanted more and were too scared to say it out loud, afraid of losing the friendship we loved so much. With a little (okay, a lot) of encouragement from a friend, we decided to take the risk. And now, here we are—ready to bring everything full circle and say “I do” at the place where we first said “hello.”
