How We Met

Thursday, August 9, 2018

If you want to get technical, Kaitlyn and Joe "met" a few weeks earlier, in one of the most romantic ways...on Hinge, that's a dating app for those who met the old fashioned way ;) Kaitlyn was on a girls weekend on Cape Cod when Joe's buddies helped him craft an ever so creative message..."hey, how's your weekend?" and the rest is history. Their first date was on Aug 9th at the Tippler. Joe will argue he wasn't late, but Kaitlyn will assure you she waited on the corner of 15th St & 9th Ave, for a solid 15 minutes. Clearly things turned around though as they spent the next four hours sipping $15 cocktails and getting to know each other.

The Proposal

March 13, 2021

As with anything he does, Joe had things planned WAY in advance. Just ask Kaitlyn's friend, Olivia, who received a text 4 months prior. Kaitlyn and Joe had just finished up brunch with his sister Ally and her fiancé Dan in New Hope. As lunch was wrapping up, Kaitlyn promptly told Joe "I want a macaroon", which was perfect because that gave Ally and Dan some time to get set up with the camera. Joe and Kaitlyn made their way to the New Hope's Ferry Market to grab a few macaroon's, at which point Joe suggested they eat them along the river promenade. Rewind about a month before, Kaitlyn and Joe were in the same place...New Hope river promenade...and Kaitlyn was sure that Joe was proposing, so much so that she scoped out the nearby bushes for a photographer. But much to her dismay, that day was not THE day, but merely the recon mission for Joe to scope out the perfect spot. Fast forward back to March 13th, Kaitlyn is briskly walking to an open chair so she can sit down and eat her cookies. Joe calls her name back to "these chairs that he liked". Kaitlyn turns around, thinking Joe's preference on chairs was a bit odd, to find Joe standing up rather straight, looking a bit nervous. Joe got down on one knee, Kaitlyn broke down in tears, the crowd around them cheered, and Ally and Dan emerged from the bushes where they were taking pictures. To top it all off, Joe had organized a surprise engagement party at a nearby brewery with family and close friends. It was truly the perfect day!
