We first met in April 2024 in the back of a moving truck in Franklin, TN, while helping someone move. In December 2024, we were both at a networking happy hour event in Nashville. Kaitlyn was chatting with Peter Bryant, who she knows from Vanderbilt. Jim briefly joined Kaitlyn and Peter as they were chatting, and we were re-introduced. A few weeks later, while playing pickleball, Peter asked Jim if he'd like Kaitlyn's number. Peter separately texted Kaitlyn to ensure that it was alright if he sent Jim her number. We had our first date on a bitterly cold evening at a Starbucks in Green Hills. Over the next year, we watched Vanderbilt baseball games, went on lots of walks, visited a cat cafe, cooked food together, went to each other's work events and met each other's families. On an early date, we'd visited Seven Oaks Park, where we played pickleball (translation: Jim attempted to coach Kaitlyn in pickleball basics), walked around, and sat under the trees. We'd talked about going back there for months. In February 2026, Jim took Kaitlyn back to Seven Oaks Park to propose under those same trees, and Kaitlyn excitedly said yes!
