Our love story began on Bumble, but it took a few twists and turns before anything really started. We chatted for a while on the app, but the conversations were pretty dry and eventually faded out. Dre later asked for my number so we could try again, but even then we stopped talking. We also had each other on Snapchat, but barely used it. A couple of years later, I kept seeing his name pop up whenever I went to send someone else a Snap. It was always “Dre from Bumble,” with a Bitmoji in a cowboy hat, and I was about to unadd him. Then one day he finally posted a picture of himself wearing a pink beanie, and he looked really good. That was when I decided to reach out to him again. We started talking more and kept planning dates, but we were both nervous and kept canceling. Eventually we decided to finally go on a date to the drive-in, where they were showing Scream and Cocaine Bear. From the moment we got there, everything felt easy and familiar, and we talked almost the entire time. At one point the conversation somehow turned to “intimate songs,” and we ended up playing Pony by Ginuwine on our very first date, which made us laugh and brought us even closer. I paid attention during Scream, but during Cocaine Bear I was so busy talking to Dre that I kept asking him what was going on in the movie because it was so wild. That was the moment he realized he might be explaining a lot of movies to me in the future. By the end of that night, we both knew we wanted to keep talking, keep going on dates, and keep getting to know each other. And now here we are, getting married and continuing the story that started at the drive-in.
