Scenic Drives
Take a scenic drive to the top of Independence Pass (about 1hr drive from Buena Vista) or go all the way over and spend the day in Aspen (about 1hr 30min drive) Looking for something shorter? The top of Cottonwood Pass is only 30 min from Buena Vista

Hiking
Buena Vista offers incredible hiking, from easy riverside strolls to challenging alpine routes. The area is home to several 14ers (peaks over 14,000ft) with unforgettable views. If you plan to hike a 14er please be sure you are in good physical condition and well acclimated. Start early in the morning and make sure you take plenty of layers and snacks (check out 14ers.com for more info). If 14ers aren't your thing, there are plenty of options for all experience levels to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery.
Spend the day in Salida CO
Salida is another quaint mountain town located about 30 minutes south of Buena Vista. They have an aquatic center, tons of great restaurants, and a lot of fun stores and shops. Also close by is Browns Canyon National Monument.
