How do we get to Newport?

Answer

You can fly into either Boston Logan or Providence airports. Boston is 1.5 hours driving to Newport. Providence is 35 minutes driving to Newport.

Where should we stay for the wedding?

Answer

We have a room block at the Wyndham Newport Hotel in Middletown under Kormondy & Gillmore Wedding. Please see the travel portion of the website for the link. The Wyndham is not within walking distance to downtown Newport but is very easily accessible and a great budget-friendly option for our dates. Should you want to stay in Newport, please see the travel section of the website for hotel recommendations and links. We recommend either a hotel or vacation rental in Newport, Middletown (15-20 mins to Newport) or Portsmouth (20-25 mins to Newport). Book early and wherever works best for you!

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

Newport is steeped in history and elegance and we want our weekend to feel the same! We are requiring a Black Tie Optional dress code for the wedding day. Men have a choice between wearing a tuxedo or a dark suit. Women have a choice between a long gown or cocktail dress.

Can we bring our kids?

Answer

As much as we love your kids, our reception space is on an open dock to the harbor and not a place for children. We hope you’ll enjoy a getaway just the two of you!

How long should we plan to stay in Rhode Island?

Answer

We will have events Wednesday and Thursday with optional gatherings Friday and Saturday. The bride and groom will spend the weekend in Newport. We would love you to stay as long as you would like! June is an amazing time in Newport and there is so much to do and see.

Will transportation be provided to and from wedding events?

Answer

Yes, for the ceremony and reception. Guest Transportation To Ceremony: Middletown Pick-up (Wyndham - 240 Aquidneck Ave): Depart at 2:20p Newport Pick-up (Red Parrot Restaurant - 348 Thames St): Depart at 2:20p Guest Transportation to Marina Cafe & Pub (next to Regatta Place-Reception): Continuous trips starting at 4:30p. Last bus departs at 5:15p. Post-Ceremony Transportation: All Buses depart at 11:10p. Buses will drop off at Fastnet Pub for those wishing to join after-party. Additional buses will make final drop-offs at The Red Parrot (Newport) and The Wyndham (Middletown).

What should we do between the ceremony and reception?

Answer

The chapel is located steps from the historic Cliff Walk. Take a minute to walk down and get pictures in front of the fantastic view. Buses will be continuously running to Goat Island starting at 4:30p while the wedding party takes pictures. The last bus to Goat Island departs at 5:15p. If you choose to go over right away, head to the Marina Cafe & Pub for a cocktail before cocktail hour at Regatta Place at 6:00p.

What should I wear to the Welcome Party?

Answer

The Welcome Party is cocktail attire. For men, this means a suit and tie or slacks and sport coat. For women, a midi or knee-length dress or dressy jumpsuit is perfect. We kindly ask that you avoid jeans, t-shirts and sneakers.
