Katie and Tyler's story began when they met on move-in day freshman year at Indiana University when they were in the same orientation group - although there may have been some Facebook stalking beforehand ;). They became quick friends, along with the co-best man, Dan. From late nights in the dorm rooms playing cards to chicken parm Mondays at Gresh food hall to shooting hoops at the WIC, it was difficult to keep Katie and Tyler apart. They remained close friends throughout freshman and sophomore years, even visiting each other in St. Louis and Chicago each summer (just as friends, though!). When they returned to Bloomington for their junior year, what was clear to most (including their family and close friends), finally became clear to them… they were meant to be together. On September 20th, 2017, at Tyler’s Cedar Creek apartment, Katie and Tyler finally became official as a couple. When the news broke to their parents, they were under the impression that Katie and Tyler had already been dating for months, if not years! Better late than never! Believe it or not, this story is only the prologue. Since that fall day in 2017, Katie and Tyler would go on to study abroad in Europe for a semester, graduate from Indiana University, move to Chicago, endure COVID, change jobs (multiple times), and move across the country to Denver together. Their story involves traveling to countless places, expanding their horizons through new experiences, and many ups and downs, through which they continuously supported each other. In June 2024, while visiting friends in Chicago, Tyler surprised Katie and asked her to marry him. After an uncontrollable amount of smiling and giggling, Tyler finally heard a “yes.” This special moment was followed by a celebration with family and friends at Katie’s favorite Irish bar in the city, the Kerryman. Several years ago, Katie and Tyler had wondered if married couples celebrated their dating anniversary. They couldn’t imagine not celebrating September 20th, a day that had been so special to them for the past few years. As luck would have it, that date falls on a Saturday in 2025. And here we are - September 20, 2025, forever a day for Katie and Tyler to celebrate! Cheers to the beginning of a happy marriage and the continuation of a love and friendship that will last a lifetime!
