Not for the faint of heart or scared of heights, but both Ben and Max's favorite every year. We'll definitely be doing it at least once this year. Recommended to extend to Gorham mountain and hike under the caves, then walk back on the Beach Loop Road.

There's a fun fire tower on the top that if open offers incredible views. There are multiple trails to get up there and I think we've taken them all. Pick your own adventure and tell us about it afterwards! College of the Atlantic operates a local farm, make sure to stop by the farm stand on your way back to Bar Harbor

We usually stay in Southwest Harbor when we come up. Its quieter and can easily walk to this trailhead. The hike ends with a beautiful beach so make sure to bring your swimsuit!

This is one hike we do every year. I think its Kait's favorite as it looks back on Somes Sound, the only natural fijord in the United States. GORGEOUS views, challenging hike that Willie will insist on joining you for. Just don't hike next to Kait on the way down - the constant gasps and shouts for Willie to be careful will cause you to laugh constantly! Pro tip: Ask the boys about the summer we paddleboard to the Man-O-War falls and explored where French soldiers got their fresh water during the Revolutionary War. If you have the time combo it with St. Sauver

You'll see A LOT of granite throughout Maine. This was one of our first adventures as a family to find where they used to mine that granite and how they created steps to make the movement of huge granite steps easier. The trail is a little hard to find but take one of us with you and we'll show you the way.

Truly one of the best hikes on the island.. but its long and is definitely a commitment. If you're super ambitious do it at sunrise. There is no better view on the island.
