Portland Head Lighthouse
This place makes for a nice quick walk around, and there's a path that leads down to the coast for great scenic views of the lighthouse and the ocean. It's especially beautiful at sunset!
Pineland Farms
This place has lots of walking trails through beautiful forests, as well as some markets and stores. It's a great place to try a Maine-classic Whoopie Pie as you're strolling through nature! There's also a cute little botanical garden to explore.
Eastern Promenade
This is a great trail with views of the coast, and it's located in an area of Portland with great nearby restaurants.
Old Port
The historic district of Portland, with cobblestone streets, good restaurants, and lots of indie shops.
Color Me Mine
A great place to spend a day inside, Color Me Mine has a large selection of ceramics to paint, with free beverages and refreshments to enjoy.
Bradbury Mountain State Park
Another great hiking spot in Maine, if you're looking for a relatively easy walk with a beautiful view at the end of the trail. The park is located around 10 minutes from Freeport, is cheap to get in, and is a great picnic spot!
Bowdoin College Museum of Art
For those interested in the fine arts scene of Maine, this museum is located on the main street of Brunswick and is open to the public and free of charge. It's relatively small size makes it easy to walk around the entire museum in a couple hours.
