We met on the most technologically-advanced way to meet people in this modern age... Tinder. Even though we officially met on the app, Kaitlin actually had seen Isaac around campus occasionally, but never had the courage to approach him and say hello. So, when she found him on Tinder, she immediately swiped right! Our first date was unexpectedly amazing -- what we both thought would be a quick coffee date and chat turned into hours and hours of conversation, and a feeling of a connection that was deeper than either one of us was expecting. We talked about anything and everything -- from our favorite video games to our future dreams and goals for our lives. We couldn't believe how much we had in common! Neither of us wanted the evening to end. When the date was over, one thing was for sure: we both knew that this could turn into something really special.
The setting is Thanksgiving evening, after a full day of food and family in Maine. We were both driving home, when all of a sudden, Isaac asks, "Hey, would you be interested in stopping by downtown Freeport before we get home? I want to look at the Christmas light displays." Kaitlin agreed, not suspecting a single thing. Maine is a very cold state during this time of the year, so as Isaac was leading Kaitlin to the perfect spot, all Kaitlin was doing was saying how cold it was and how much she wanted to get back in the car and go home! "Let's just walk a little further, I have something I want to show you," Isaac insisted. Finally, in a grove of trees all lit up with lights, Isaac slowly started to make his speech and kneel on the ground to pop the question. Kaitlin was literally so caught off guard that she was asking a million other questions! "What are you doing?? Why are you backing up?? Why are you kneeling on the ground??? What're you getting out of your pocket?!?" Poor Isaac, left in suspense, said, "So.... Is that a yes?" and Kaitlin finally snapped out of her confusion to eagerly say "Yes!"
