Door County is the peninsula of Wisconsin surrounded by the waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan. With Wisconsin’s mitten-like shape, Door County is often referred to as the “thumb” of the state. It is home to five county and 19 state parks, 11 lighthouses, thousands of acres of protected land and a thriving culinary and art scene. Door County’s relatively secluded location means plotting your arrival may take some doing. However it also means several days of peace, serenity, and unadulterated natural beauty. Many people opt to fly in to either Green Bay International Airport or Chicago O’Hare International. From there people will rent a car and enjoy the scenic drive into Door County. This means having car access while you’re up here will be invaluable. However, once you arrive, the charming towns of Bailey's Harbor, Sister Bay, Ephraim, and Fish Creek are at most 16 minutes apart.
