Beautiful overlook as you drive to the wedding from Seattle
Goat Peak is home to one of the last active fire lookouts in Washington State. The summit offers beautiful views of the Methow Valley & North Cascades. We've hiked from the Ranch House to Goat Peak. It was 14 miles of poorly marked trail, assisted by a GIS map a friend gave us. It was beautiful but brutal. There is a forest service road that takes you 1.5 miles from the peak, we highly recommend this option.
This is one of our favorite trails to ski in the winter. It is also beautiful to walk or fat-bike on in the summer. There is a parking lot near the Early Winters campground with signage to reach the trail. If you're feeling ambitious, you can bike from the Ranch House via the Community trail to get to this trailhead.
A beautiful hike to break up the drive from Seattle. The trail is easy/moderate with a beautiful view of Early Winters Spire. Bring your boots as there will still be snow by the lake and it will be muddy in June.
Its a two minute walk to the Mazama Store for great coffee, pastries, snacks, and the best Baguette outside of France.
Another favorite spot of ours - perfect if you are searching for coffee & pastries before or after a hike. They have outdoor seating overlooking the river. Take some time to walk the two blocks of downtown Winthrop while you're there.
