Here are some things to check out as you plan your stay in Münster (thank you Nadine & Hermann for the help!): RESTAURANTS Feldmann: a bit more modern/upscale, focused on German cuisine. Drübbelken: similar to Grosser Kiepenkerl from the look & feel, this place offers traditional German dishes. Trattoria Adria: amazing pizza place in downtown Münster. Vegetarian & vegan: Check out Krawummel or Beetschwester! BARS Weinbar Ideal: cute little coffee place/wine bar, also offers small plates. Lux am LWL: right next to Münster's LWL museum, great cocktails. Grotes: in the center of Münster's beautiful Kreuzviertel, also offers small local plates. For breakfast, your best bets are one of Münster's MANY bakeries & cafes (e.g. Pain et Gateau). From the beautiful city center to the surrounding Aasee, as well as country estates (e.g. Hof Grothues-Potthoff, Schloss Nordkirchen, etc.) you'll find a lot of variety to fill your agenda. Germany's capital. Definitely worth a visit. Tons of delicious restaurants, plenty of different neighborhoods to explore and if you're into German/European history, this is the place to be.
If you're flying into Düsseldorf it's definitely worth exploring a day or so. The city has a beautiful old town "Altstadt", amazing shopping (check out "Die Kö"), as well as a wonderful restaurant scene and promenade along the Rhine river.
Similar to Düsseldorf, Cologne has a beautiful old town, but most importantly, Cologne is known for it's cathedral ("Kölner Dom") -- right next to the train station.
This is where we currently live. If you have any Frankfurt-specific questions, reach out to us :) While the city itself is not a highlight, we'd recommend venturing out into the surrounding wine region, Rheingau.
Unfortunately, you're a bit too early for the Oktoberfest, but that should not stop you from checking out the traditional breweries, Munich's old town and the surrounding countryside.
As some of you will fly into Amsterdam, it's definitely worth a stay! Highly recommend checking out boutique hotels or Airbnbs to get the best of Dutch interior design and architecture. If you're looking for something less touristy, easier to navigate and even more authentic, check out Utrecht, about 20 minutes outside of Amsterdam. Nina, Julia's sister currently lives there, so happy to put you in touch with her for some insider tips!
At the Southern most tip of the Netherlands you'll find Maastricht. A fantastic food scene, a beautiful college campus and fabulous shopping, you can spend a couple days easing into Dutch culture and charm.
I don't think this city needs much of an explanation :) BUT for any insider recommendations, please reach out to us and we'll put you in touch with a Paris resident.
Right across the border in France in the historic region of Alsace, is Strasbourg. Similar to pretty much every town in Europe, you'll find a cathedral ("Strasbourg Cathedral") in the center of the town. In addition to a boat tour on the river, you'll want to spend some time on some of the cobblestone streets like Rue du Bain aux Plantes and in some of the traditional restaurants serving Alsatian specialties like choucroute garnie or tarte flambée.
Cheers :)
You'll want to spend a bit more time here, since it is quite a trek as most of the vineyards you'll want to see are further out in the country side. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, recommend flying into Nice, exploring the Côte d’Azur for a few days, before driving North to Provence. Highly recommend this charming boutique hotel, Le Petit Palais d'Aglaé, in the beautiful city of Gordes.
A 3 hour direct flight from Frankfurt you'll hit the stunning island of Santorini. For the complete Greek experience, recommend you fly into Athens, explore the ancient ruins like Acropolis or Parthenon before you hop around the Greek islands of Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Naxos, Kos, etc.
While there are many lakes to explore in the Northern part of Italy, Lake Como is a must. It is definitely worth taking a ferry or even renting a boat, as you'll want to explore Bellagio, a small town in the middle of the lake.
