Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

We know invitations have been sent out later than expected, we are asking guests to respond via the "RSVP" tab as soon as you receive your invitation, so we may make proper accommodations as soon as possible. Thank you.

Question

What Type Of Footwear Should I Wear?

Answer

Please keep in mind when choosing footwear, that the ceremony and most of the reception will be held outdoors and on grassy lawn. Flats or even dressy flip flops would be acceptable for the ceremony. Heels should be avoided for the possibility of sinking into the lawn.

Question

Do you have a recommendation for alternate accommodation?

Answer

The Oceanside Marina Suites, where the wedding will be held, is offering a wedding discount if you use "Kahoiwai Wedding" when calling to book a room. There are also a variety of hotels and RV camps within a 5-10 minute drive from the wedding venue. Further information, including addresses, phone numbers, and contact information for overnight accommodations can be found in the "Travel" tab at the top of our website.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

We will be dining buffet style with authentic Hawaiian food. Accommodations for many dietary restrictions will be met in the buffet line, including but not limited to: vegan, vegetarian, shellfish free, keto, and gluten free options. Should you have any further dietary needs, please do not hesitate to let us know in your RSVP so we can make appropriate accommodations for you! Thank you!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

Guest parking information can be found in the "Travel" tab at the top of our website page. Parking at the hotel is limited to one vehicle per hotel guest only. All guests not staying at the Oceanside Marina Suites (OMS) will find parking at adjacent lots near the marina. Should you need further guidance when finding parking for the wedding, please reach out to Cameron or Trevor Kalei directly; the OMS will also provide directions to appropriate parking lots.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

You can find our plan for the wedding day in the "Schedule" tab at the top of our website page. We are asking guests to arrive at 2PM (1400). Our ceremony will begin promptly at 3PM (1500).

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The grooms will be wearing linen suits to encourage a relaxed, yet formal look for the ceremony. We are going for a tropical fall theme. Earth tones (beige, khaki, browns, and sand), fall colors (burnt oranges, maroons, and deep reds) as well as floral prints should be appropriate attire. It will be fall in Southern California, meaning the weather will typically be mild during the day with a cooling trend toward the evening.

Question

What is the phonetic pronunciation of "Kahoiwai"

Answer

"Kahoiwai" is Trevor Kalei's grandmother, Leina'ala Kahoiwai's maiden name. When she immigrated to the mainland with her son Steve, chose the surname of "Owen". In admiration of his grandmothers Native Hawaiian roots, Trevor Kalei chose "Kahoiwai" as his surname. "Kahoiwai" is properly pronounced KA-HO-EE-VI. Additionally, "Kalei" was Trevor's given name at birth, it is pronounced KAH-LAY.
