K-ETA & Exceptions

Most visitors, including U.S. passport holders, must apply for a K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) before entering Korea. Apply online at https://www.k-eta.go.kr or via the official K-ETA app. HOWEVER, there has been a K-ETA exemption extension until the end of 2026, meaning you will not have to apply for a K-ETA. Instead, visitors will have to fill out an e-arrivals card within 72 hours of arrival to Korea. Fill out the form by clicking on the button below, or copy and past the following: https://e-arrivalcard.go.kr

Incheon Airport

Seoul has 2 airports: Incheon (ICN) and Gimpo (GMP). Incheon Airport is the main international hub, located about 1 hour from Seoul city center. Gimpo is smaller but conveniently located within Seoul, handling mostly domestic and short regional flights. Both offer easy transportation options into the city — including airport buses, trains, and taxis.

Data & Phone Connectivity

Having mobile data (and a Korean phone number) will make your trip much smoother — especially when using apps for taxis, restaurant reservations, and directions. Most local apps like Kakao T (taxis), Catch Table (restaurant reservations), and Tabling (café and dining waitlists) require a Korean phone number to verify your account. While you can still use Wi-Fi in many places, it’s far more convenient to have your own local connection for on-the-go plans and ride pickups. Make sure your phone is carrier unlocked before traveling. (Check with your provider — most modern smartphones are.) and upon arrival at Incheon Airport, follow the signs to the telecom kiosks (SK Telecom, KT, LG U+) located near Arrivals. Ask for an eSIM with a Korean phone number — this allows you to activate data immediately without inserting a physical SIM card. If you don't want a Korean phone number and simply want data connectivity (and your phone supports eSIM), you can download an app and purchase a travel data plan before arrival. Some apps that support this are Airalo, Ubigi, GigSky, and Klook eSIM

Getting to the Wedding Venue

There are 2 ways to reach the venue: taxis and shuttle buses. Please click the button below to check the shuttle bus schedule. Shuttle buses depart from 2 different subway stations (Anguk Station, line 3 and Hansung University Station, line 6). For both shuttle bus stops, please look for a brown banner that says "Shuttle Bus" and "Sam Cheong Gak" in small English letters (The rest of the banner is in Korean). Please note that the shuttle is small, and may not be able to fit everyone at once. Feel free to come earlier and say hi to the bride in her bridal suite! Getting Around Seoul

Seoul’s public transportation system is world-class — clean, safe, and easy to navigate in English. 🚇 Subway Covers every major district and tourist attraction. Buy a T-money card with cash at the subway station kiosks or any convenience store. Subways run roughly 5:30 AM – midnight. Download the Subway Korea or Naver Map app for route guidance in English. 🚌 Bus Extensive and punctual, though best for locals or those using Naver Map for directions. Use the same T-money card as the subway. Don't forget to beep the card when getting on and off the bus! 🚖 Taxis & Apps Download Kakao T (Korea’s version of Uber) for easy rides. Most drivers don’t speak much English, so enter your destination in the app. Uber also operates in Korea, but mainly partners with existing taxi fleets. 🚶 Walking Seoul is a very walkable city, especially areas like Myeongdong, Insadong, and Hongdae. Comfortable shoes are a must — expect stairs, hills, and lots of walking!

Useful Apps for Traveling in Korea

🗺️ Naver Maps The most reliable navigation app in Korea. Provides detailed walking and transit routes (more accurate than Google Maps). Available in English — just switch the language in settings. Includes reviews, photos, and directions for most restaurants, cafes, and landmarks. Tip: Use it to find walking routes, train transfers, or nearby convenience stores. 🚕 Kakao T The must-have app for taxis and ride-hailing. Works like Uber, but connects you directly to Korea’s official taxis. Lets you enter destinations in English and pay in-app or by card. Also offers options for black taxis, airport transfers, and quick deliveries. Tip: Some taxis don’t take foreign cards — if your ride is short, cash is easiest. 💬 Papago Translate Created by Naver (like Google Translate but better for Korean). Accurate translations for menus, signs, and text via photo or voice input. Works offline if you download Korean-English data. Tip: Point your camera at restaurant menus or skincare labels — it’s incredibly accurate.
