Oh yes, you all know our dads. These two, as we soon realized, are very similar. And they're the ones that we'll be forever thanking. They were both on a mission to get their children married. Kevin's dad set up an online profile for Kevin and Jessica's dad responded. As you can imagine, we were both slightly resistant to the concept of being matched on a random dating site by our parents… And we also weren’t interested in pursuing a relationship at the time. But Justus Baby called it "fate" from the second he read Kevin's profile. They shared a birthday, after all. Despite our hesitations, we both felt that there could be no harm in having just one conversation where we would hopefully find some red flags and move on. We were so wrong. We talked for hours that first time and haven't stopped since. The idea of dating someone that lived five hours away was initially a difficult thing for us to grasp, but God revealed that love was not limited by distance. Instead, this was an opportunity for love to be displayed in the most amazing way in an unconventional situation. It's been a million FaceTime calls, hangouts with friends and family, and precious moments doing absolutely anything to spend time together that have led up to this point. This Houston boy and OKC girl are getting married, and we ultimately give glory and thanks to our Heavenly Father.
Well, everyone, he managed to pull off a surprise after all. And believe me, it was quite a feat. I was as nosy as ever, constantly wondering when Kev would finally pop the question. But one Saturday afternoon, after he had already called to say good morning under the guise of being at work in Temple, Texas, my siblings and I went to a park to take graduation pictures. We walked around and took some pictures, and then there he was, looking as handsome as ever... and the rest is history :)
