On Sunday, April 14th, 2019, Steve took me to the Bernardus Lodge and Spa in Carmel Valley for a well deserved couples massage and spa day. We had been so busy with baseball, softball, work, and a master bathroom overhaul. It was well deserved pampering. He booked a beautiful villa to continue our relaxation. After a few hours enjoying the relaxing spa, we took a trip to the Carmel Valley Village for some wine tasting. When we returned to our villa at Bernardus, Steve suggested that we take a walk through the property. When we wandered through the impeccable grounds of the Bernardus garden, Steve lead us to the wedding ceremony lawn. Steve must have known that I would play into his game. He asked why they had a "stage" at the front of the lawn. I stepped up onto the "stage" and put my hands out. I started acting out a wedding ceremony and turned to check if Steve understood the point of the "stage". As I turned back toward the lawn, Steve was on his bent knee with a ring raised up and he smiled as he asked if I would marry him. I jumped off that "stage", wrapped my arms around him and said "YES"!!!! We basked in the glow of our engagement in the comfort of our beautiful villa, watched the stars on our private patio, and enjoyed breakfast al fresco the next morning.
On Wednesday, April 17th Steve took Anabelle with him to pick up Caden and Riley. I had given Steve the engagement ring back so that we could include the kids in blending our family. He showed them the engagement ring and told them that he wanted to ask me to marry him. He asked the kids if they approved and if they would help him to ask me. All three were quick to agree enthusiastically!! When they got home, I was installing a new light switch face plate in the bathroom. When I didn't come to the front entry way fast enough, all four of them piled into the bathroom. I turned to show them my just completed task, but they were all jumping and yelling, "will you marry us" and "will you marry Steve/Daddy"? Then Caden pulled the ring out of his sweatshirt and happily presented it to me!! Of course, I said YES!!!
