Explore the Local Redwoods (Hikes & Scenic Drives)
Stout Grove (Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park) An easy walk through one of the most stunning old growth redwood groves in the area. Fern Canyon (Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park) A magical canyon with fern covered walls and famously cinematic scenery. Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway A drive through towering redwoods with some of the best views in the region. Klamath Tour Thru Tree A fun roadside stop where you can drive through a redwood tree. Small admission fee and a gift shop nearby.
Enjoy the Coast
Battery Point Lighthouse Accessible at low tide and one of the most unique spots in Crescent City. South Beach and Pebble Beach Great for sunsets, tidepools, and easy ocean walks. Crescent Beach Overlook Sweeping coastal views and frequent wildlife sightings. Crescent City Harbor A working harbor where you can watch fishing boats come in.
Local Seafood Favorites
SeaQuake Brewing – Craft Chart Room – Fresh seafood with beautiful harbor views. Fisherman's Restaurant – A local favorite for seafood and classic comfort food. Schmidt's House of Jambalaya – Famous for its hearty Cajun-inspired dishes. Sea West Café – Casual breakfast and lunch.
Local Shopping
Downtown Crescent City has small boutiques, antique stores, and locally owned gift shops. You’ll also find a few shops near the harbor for souvenirs and local goods.
Further Out Side Quest Opportunities
This is our favorite kind of detour, but definitely optional! San Francisco and Portland are both about a 5.5 to 6 hour drive from Crescent City if you want to turn your trip into a longer adventure. Both routes offer beautiful drives with plenty of scenic stops along the way. From Portland, we loved Cannon Beach, Lincoln City, and the Tillamook Creamery. From San Francisco, we recommend the Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, Humboldt Redwoods State Park, and Glass Beach.
