Heather Farm Park
Huge park with walking trails, sports fields, a pond filled with turtles, among other amenities. Stop and smell the roses in the garden where Justin popped the question and take the kids to the enormous playground. Walking distance from hotels via the canal trail.
The Ferry Building
Take BART to Embarcadero (first station in SF). The Ferry Building is packed with yummy local treats and is a great place to start & end a walk along the bay. As its name suggests, you can take a ferry ride via multiple companies to towns in Marin or back across the bay to Jack London Square in Oakland. A favorite trip to enjoy views of the city, bridges, Alcatraz, Angel Island, and Mt. Tam is Sausalito. It's a cute town with Golden Gate views, houseboats, waterside restaurants, and art galleries.
Cable Car Ride
Take BART to the Powell station (3rd stop in SF). You will find yourself in the heart of Union Square, a major shopping area. Two cable car routes start from Powell Street and travel through the hills of SF ending up in the Fisherman's Wharf area.
Broadway Plaza and Downtown Walnut Creek
Shop till you drop at your favorite brands or in local mom & pops. Enjoy a meal at one of over 100 restaurants. Some of our favorite places: Benvenutti (Italian restaurant) David M. Brian (great souvenirs), the HUGE Anthropologie store, Broadway Plaza (Nordstrom, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, True Food Kitchen, & national retailers) Decors de France (French housewares), Tender Greens (casual fresh food), Stadium Pub (sports bar), Lotties (mmm...ice cream), the Sunday Farmer's Market on Locust, Civic Park, Walnut Creek Library...happy wandering.
Napa
Napa Valley is one of the world's great destinations, especially for lovers of great wine, fantastic food, and beautiful scenery. Stop by one of over 400 wineries in Napa, Calistoga, St. Helena, Yountville, Rutherford, Oakville. Our favorite spots for wine are Regusci Vineyard, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, Durant & Booth, Hess Winery, and Reverie Vineyard; for bubbles are Domaine Chandon, Gloria Ferrer, and Domaine Carneros; for food are Oxbow Public Market, Bouchon Bakery, Bottega, Oakville Grocery, and Gott's Roadside.
Sonoma
Explore Sonoma County by traveling one of many exceptional tasting routes. From exemplary Pinot Noir and exciting Zinfadels all the way to supple, well structured Cabernet Sauvignons, Sonoma County has wine for every palate. Our favorite spots are Healdsburg/Geyserville (Dry Creek Vineyards, Flanagan Wines, downtown Healdsburg, Coppola Winery, Trione Winery), Sebastopol/Graton (Dutton-Goldfield Winery, The Barlow, MacPhail Wines), Petaluma (Lagunitas Brewing, downtown Petaluma, Petaluma Pie Company).
Muir Woods National Monument Park
Muir Woods National Monument is part of California's Golden Gate National Recreation Area, north of San Francisco. It's known for its towering old-growth redwood trees. Get there early to beat the crowds....or drive a little more north to Armstrong Redwoods in Guerneville, CA.
Tilden Regional Park
Visit Tilden Park for hiking trails with scenic views of the Bay Area, go for a swim at Lake Anza, smell the flowers at the Botanic Garden, say hello to the animals at the Little Farm, or take a ride on the Steam Train or Merry-Go-Round.
