I did this hike last year, and it was great fun! The entrance to the hike is about 10 miles west of the Lochsa Lodge and the Hot Springs are about 1 mile in on a very easy trail (wide, unobstructed path with no elevation change). The Lodge loans out towels to guests (don't use bath towels). If you are wanting something more strenuous, there is a waterfall if you hike an additional 7 miles (high levels of elevation gain past the springs).
Located off Hwy 12, about 3 ½ miles East of Lochsa Lodge, is the incredible grove of magnificent giant Western Cedars on the pristine bank of Crooked Fork Creek. There is a USFS restroom and ample parking at the trail head. This is a paved hike with little elevation change.
You can fish right from the river that runs past the Lodge! Note the Lodge Country Store only has some restocking supplies. Any gear outfitting would need to be rented in Missoula.
Located just a short walk down the stairs and across the old logging road, you are welcome to put a camp chair in the river and just chill. Take in the breathtaking views of the mountains and the river with a beverage!
