Julie and Rawls met the summer after 8th grade when Short Pump mall wasn’t the nightmarish shopper zombie crowd it is today, Abercrombie was the height of middle school fashion, and the Black Eyed Peas ruled the local radio stations. They met through mutual friends during a movie night where Rawls gave Julie a hemp anklet he had made at camp (which Julie would inevitably and apologetically misplace...an injustice on which Rawls has no comment). For the next 13 years, Julie and Rawls would talk daily about everything from crushes to new recommended iTunes music to who they would cast in a re-make of “Elizabethtown.” They spent their youth driving around Richmond listening to music and drinking milkshakes from Cook Out. They continued this tradition into college and adulthood whenever times were hard and all they needed was a friend and some Supertramp. One summer day in August of 2017, Rawls visited Julie in Rhode Island. It was during this trip that they both realized their friendship had become something more. After each of them had consulted with their now bridal party members over tequila or gin and contemplated the magnitude of taking that next step, it became official! To this day, Julie is thrilled that she is actively living out the plot of “When Harry Met Sally."
