Dear family and friends, As you may remember, we had a small, outdoor wedding ceremony in Charleston with our immediate families on 12/12/20 and postponed our reception a full year. We were hoping the pandemic would be greatly subsided by now and we would be able to gather together safely. Unfortunately, the rise of the highly-transmissible delta variant has changed our plans once again. We have decided to cancel our wedding reception in Nashville on 12/11/21 and will not be rescheduling it to a later date. We are sad to pass this message along, but feel it is the right decision to keep everyone safe and to prevent further spread of the virus. Despite these difficult times, we hold onto the belief that things will improve once COVID19 vaccines are available to persons of all ages. Hopefully, we can see each of you in person in the not-too-distant future. Lastly, if you have not been vaccinated yet, please seriously consider it -- not only for your own safety (unvaccinated persons make up the vast majority of those hospitalized) but also for those around you. Jay and Julie first met circa 2012, when they were both living in Nashville, TN. Jay was working on his PhD in chemistry and rooming with his friend, Kent. Julie was working on her master’s degree in nursing and spending countless hours studying with her friend and classmate, Jessica. Thanks to Kent and Jess (dating at the time and now married), Jay and Julie crossed paths at several group hangouts in 2012 and 2013. Julie was struck by Jay’s encyclopedic knowledge of interstates at a trivia night. Jay was struck by Julie's smile and kind demeanor, but the timing was never right. Jay moved to Atlanta in 2014, and Julie remained in Nashville.

Flash forward to fall 2018. Jay came to Nashville for a weekend to visit Kent and Jessica and with hopes of reconnecting with Julie. The four went out together, but Julie wasn’t sure if Jay was romantically interested until she received a mix CD - according to Jay, "the last mixtape he will ever make" - and a sweet note he left for her. Smitten by this gesture, Julie told Jay she hoped he could make another trip to Nashville soon. The rest is history! Jay and Julie dated long-distance for the better part of a year, racking up Southwest frequent flyer miles between Nashville and Charleston, SC.

Jay proposed to Julie at Folly Beach in Charleston during a sunny, cool afternoon on December 7, 2019. Julie enthusiastically said yes! They spent the rest of the day sharing their good news and enjoying a delicious celebratory dinner at Chez Nous.
