Sophia is one of our most thoughtful, encouraging, kind-hearted friends who is always ready for new adventures. From day trips in New England to late night conversations to baking many many loaves of banana bread together, Sophia has always been the first to say YES. Even more special, Sophia was there to witness the very first sparks between Julianna and Nick at the CrossRoad Alumni Retreat in 2017! Sophia is a true example of walking by faith and has been a role model to us throughout the years. We know that Sophia will be a guiding light to us throughout our marriage. We are so excited for her to be a big part of our special day!

Kyros is someone you want on your side. He has a fantastic personality with contagious laughter and a massive capacity for having a good time. Adversity does not phase him - Kyros will weather any storm life throws at him. You'll likely find him running the next Spartan race (wherever it might be) or taste-testing the latest gyro in town. We know that he will be solidly supportive to us in our lives.

This would not be a wedding PARTY without Julianna's eldest and most hilarious sister, Victoria. You can catch her creating on-point Reels for her food-Instagram, or perhaps quietly reading a book - she's an English teacher and a writer. So, she probably would've done a better job at writing this little bio. Victoria is the first person I'd to turn to when I need another perspective to help me through tough situations. Still a bit worried what she might add to her speech at the reception...
Michael Makiej
Best Man
The groom's younger brother, the younger-yet-better basketballer, Michael. He has a big heart and an even bigger shoe size. As brothers we've come a long way - I was always hogging the video games which was bad enough for Michael, but to top it off, I created "fast mode" for cleaning up legos - which basically meant Michael would single-handedly clean them up. The summer before we started dating Michael would see "Julianna" appear on my text messages and press me on it: "Who's ~Julianna~ ??" He knew I was hiding something special. The three of us have had many fun times together since. It's a blessing to have him standing by my side as Best Man!
Katerina Schlabig
Maid of Honor
The Middle Sister who's always there when Julianna needs an ear. Nick and Julianna have had many fun times together with Katie driving to see each other in Boston and the Finger Lakes! When she's not at every Buffalo Bills tailgate, she's playing with her little cat Squid, reading a book, or planning fun lessons for her students. Katie is quick to listen and knows just what to say when I'm having a tough day. She's always checking on me - like the time she bent down from her top bunk to see if I was still awake and ended up flipping off the bed and landing into a laundry basket. She has been such a big support during this wedding planning season and we are so excited to have her up there with us!
Sam Xifaras

Sam's a genuine dude. He's been neighbors with Nick since they were kids, and grown up through GOYA and the Church. In their college days, Nick, Julianna, and Sam made it their mission to dine at every Not Your Average Joe's Restaurant they could find! That streak sort of fizzled out as they discovered that some NYAJ's were using frozen french fries...Along with being able to count on him to hook us up with Jackbox.tv games, we'll always feel secure knowing that Sam can fix Nick's computer when a single software update destroys everything--Catalina! On a more serious note, were blessed to have Sam's friendship and support.
Katherine Andrews

Not Julianna's sister but 100% her sister! Katie came into our lives at the best time. Julianna knew that she had a bestie for life once they became best roommates at Metropolitan Ave. Our late night convos, midday dance parties, and weekly game nights are just some of the highlights of our time as roomies. Although she lives in Texas now, she will always be one of our closest friends. We're psyched to create even more memories with her. (Especially when she moves back to Boston *wink wink*) Yeehaw!
Gregory Troop

Greg and Nick go way back to when they were kids ... the better story is how Greg and Julianna met. It was the first day each of them arrived at college. Julianna was SO excited to finally see Nick. Nick and his suitemates and Julianna and her suitemates planned to meet in the evening for a freshman welcome event. No more than two minutes go by when Nick receives a text on his phone, looks down, and shouts "GREG'S HERE". He runs off leaving Julianna in the dust. "Who the heck is Greg?!" was all Julianna could think. Well as it turned out, Greg quickly became one of their best friends. The three of them spent nearly every day together between shared meals in the dining hall, late nights in the library, OCF, Greek festivals, and exploring their new city!
Erin Fontaine

Erin and Julianna have been friends since the beginning of high school when they both joined the Art Academy. Lots of trips to art galleries, musicals, and the best times hanging out post-school dances. Erin is compassionate by nature and always making sure you feel supported. With her husband Josh and new baby Theadora, watching her little family grow has been a beautiful blessing for Julianna and Nick. We are so excited to have her guiding support as we begin our life as newlyweds!
Costas Vergados

Overly yet generously logistical? Loud and lovingly obnoxious? Yes, perhaps all of these things. He is the Middle Vergados and has been our friend since basically forever ago. When no one else is sure what to do, he'll happily make the decision for you. Thanks Costa for all your wonderfully constructed criticisms of movies and the like. We always get the hefty opinion out of you at our own peril! Oh, and if it has anything to do with olive oil, Costa already knows it. But you still might want to ask if you want to get him on a passionate tangent. We're lucky to benefit from his analyses, and even luckier to have him up there on our special day.
Marissa Dalio

Marissa might've been the only person in the world that understood Julianna's sense of humor, until Nick. That's why it was so exciting for Nick and Marissa to finally meet at Erin's wedding. Immediate laughter. When Marissa and Julianna are together, the laughter never stops. Marissa knew about Nick before anyone else, when we were catching up in Senior year study hall. She is light-hearted and always looking out for others. While they've been apart since Julianna moved to Boston, they never fell short of facetimes and phone calls. There's never a dull moment when she's around!
Victor Arsenescu

The Romanian amongst the Greeks. Victor came to our church one day and gained our entire "parea" in a matter of a moment. He's always willing to try something new. He's always trying really hard to help out when were making brunch after church. Victor will say "yeah, sure!" to virtually any proposition. Rock-climbing, a new restaurant, extreme sports, axe throwing, or running a marathon for fun. And he's basically been a Fitness Trainer out of his garage home gym. We get a weekly text from him asking if we want to 'pump some iron' - he wants us to be in peak physique for our special day! We're grateful to have him share in our memories on our wedding day.

Even though she grew up as Nick's neighbor, it sure feels like Julianna and Paulina have known each other since childhood! Paulina is the younger sister I never had. We frequently find ourselves as the only two girls in the room - which is why we initially stuck together - but it didn't take much for us to become close friends diving deep into girl talk in the other room. We can't wait to have her fun, "let's do this" energy with us on our special day!

A life-of-the-party type of guy. Vasili has known Nick since they were Crackle campers at Metropolis of Boston Camp when they traded candy for learning magic tricks under the bathroom sink past midnight He's a selfish 3-pt shooter...maybe less-so now than in the past, but you definitely want him on your team. "Shooters shoot" mentality, he's all about low-rish high-reward opportunities. You can catch him signing up for every Rewards program at all the stores, or annihilating you in Super Smash Brothers. He couldn't stop smiling when Nick asked him to be a groomsman, and we can't wait to see him smiling with us at the altar!
