Liberia International Airport (LIR) Southwest flies to Liberia!!! :)
Yes! You don’t need to worry about getting to and from Playa Grande. The peninsula is also very small and we plan to have some golf cart rentals available. Tons of restaurants are within a golf cart ride.
Hot. it can get into the mid- 90's during the middle of the day. Think Kansas City in July / August while packing. I also recommend packing mosquito repellent.
The Colon is the Costa Rican currency. However, they will absolutely accept USD while your traveling. I would say 95% of places will accept your credit card. It’s nice to have some cash for street vendors. You’ll also have to pay for the excursions in cash. Whatever you do, do not change currency in the airport as they give you a terrible exchange rate!
“Coco Loco”, “Pangas Beach Club” or “Sendito Norte”. Coco Loco and Pangas Beach Club are right on the beach and their food is upscale and amazing. Coco Loco is catering the weddings so you’ll get a taste either way! Sendito Norte is more of a James Bond cliff side vibe. Really spectacular, but about 30 minutes away.
Tamarindo is the largest town in the area. People visit to get their crafty souvineers and there is a ton of restaurants and beach bars to choose from. You can get there by shuttle (25 minutes) or take a water taxi at the end of Playa Grande Beach (about 5 minute boat ride). Heads up, you need cash for the water taxi, but it’s super cheap!
Yep! A bike or golf cart would be perfect for the area. We plan to reserve a bunch in bulk ahead of time, so just let us know if you want one :)
Massages can come to you at your hotel or house. Ask our wedding planners how to arrange this! There’s also a day spa up in the mountains if you want to make a day out of it.
Yes! "Wil-mart", owned and run by the local celebrity, Will, has everything you might need. If you need deodorant, bug spray, shampoo, a pack of beer, snacks for the hotel room, you can find it here! Added bonus: Fantastic restaurant / bar is behind the store.
Unless you have an international plan, no. We usually get a text on our phone when we land, to opt into an international pass for $10 a day. But most people download WhatsApp and use it to communicate. There’s WiFi almost everywhere for you to connect to.
Yes! The water is safe to drink in Playa Grande. If your worried about it at all, just ask for bottled water.
Yup! Playa Grande is notorious for yoga retreats. Rip Jack Inn offers classes. Venture to their website to see the daily schedule.
There are several ATMs in the surrounding area but none in Playa Grande. The closest ATM’s are in Tamarindo and Huacus (about 20 minutes away).
Bring your own hair dryer!! The hotel rooms at RipJack Inn do not have hair dryers.
