We met through a mutual friend (Alyssa - wife of groomsman, Max!) who connected us through Instagram. It was immediately apparent we had similar interests, from yellow labs to traveling, politics, fishing, and more! We didn't meet in person until April as Julian was in training to become a pilot for an American regional airline. After Julian and I made plans to take Harper swimming and finally meet for the first time, he bailed on us as we were driving to DC, so we rerouted to his apartment where Harper greeted his very hungover self with a bark as she approached him on the sidewalk. We eventually went on a real date and the rest is history!

We drove to Vermont for our annual fall trip. Julian took Sam (Julian's mom), Harper, Draco, Lucy, and I on one of his favorite hikes, Sterling Pond Trail, which takes you to the top of Spruce Peak (yes, it smells like Christmas!). When we got to the top, we let the dogs cool off in the pond and I asked Julian if we could take a picture. I handed Sam my phone and as she snapped some photos, Julian got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said "YES!" And if you're wondering, Sam was taken by surprise too!
