Robert and Julian’s story started freshman year of high school, in biology class. Robert quickly claimed the seat right behind Julian, and instead of focusing on mitochondria, he spent fifth period doing everything he could to make her laugh. The teacher was less charmed, moving them to opposite sides of the room and telling Robert’s mom he was “easily distracted by his neighbors.” Julian would continue to be a distraction for Robert from that point on. What started as classroom antics quietly grew into something neither of them could have planned. Over the past several years, they’ve shared extremely difficult times, many of life’s firsts, and endless laughs — each one drawing them closer than the last. When it came time for the biggest question of his life, Robert brought Julian to his hometown of Cocoa Beach. While they walked along the shore, their families snuck behind them and set up champagne, red roses, and of course an orchid. There was just one problem — Julian spotted the whole setup on their walk back and asked, “Is that for us?” He then proceeded to get down on one knee and ask Julian to marry him. She said yes — and the best chapter of their story finally began. To life, health, happiness, and a little bit of luck!
