No prob. Traveling to India is a huge time/financial commitment! We are planning on having a party in the US at some point, so stay tuned for that. You can also leave a message for us at this link: https://recocards.com/board/anniversary-juliana-86760043658
This is really up to you, but if you want to do clothes shopping IN india before the wedding, you should come at least a week in advance (ideally more if you want things tailored to you). Rachit and I will (probably) be in India from November 5 - December 5 (two weeks ahead to prepare for the wedding, and two weeks after to attend other weddings and see all the family). We'll be pretty busy after the wedding (Nov 19 onwards) and semi-busy before it, so if you want to hang out with us, staying before the wedding is probably the best bet. Also note that tickets from India to and from USA become increasingly more expensive in late November & December, so that's another reason to stay pre-wedding instead of post.
Our official recommendation is to stay in Aerocity, which is a collection of hotels and businesses at the Delhi airport. This is catered to tourists and you will likely feel the most at home here. Otherwise, south and central Delhi are other safe options. These regions are 20-40 minutes from most of the wedding activities, which are in North Delhi in the district of Rohini. If you must stay in Rohini, we recommend the Crowne Plaza hotel. It is more expensive than the Aerocity hotels, but you will be a bit closer to us. Our official recommendation for getting around is Uber. It will be significantly cheaper than Uber in the states and is the safest bet!
Only if you really want to! It is an Indian wedding in India, so most attendees will be dressed in Indian attire for most events. It is becoming increasingly common for people to wear Western black-tie/formal wear for the Sangeet (cocktail party), but otherwise, you can expect to be surrounded by individuals in traditional indian attire. This might cause you to feel like you're sticking out, but if you don't care, we don't care. Most people will not expect you to wear indian attire, and if you do, they will just be happy that you are partaking in their culture. If you don't want to buy new clothes AND you also don't want to stick out, you can focus on wearing colorful patterned dresses & shirts. You can also blend Indian accessories with your Western attire. Up to you! If you are looking for any opportunity to buy new clothes, check out the "Outfit Inspo & Info for Guests" page. You can buy Indian clothes online, but I will also include options for shopping in Delhi if you'd like to come early and go shopping!
