The lobby floor of the Meyerson Symphony Center is Italian travertine marble, which is supposedly from the same quarry Michelangelo used for his sculptural masterpieces. The Herman W and Amelia H Lay Family Organ was designed and built by C.B Fisk, Inc. There are 76 pipes visible in the façade, but the total number of organ pipes is 4,535. I. M. Pei was the architect for the Morton H Meyerson Symphony Center. Other buildings designed by I.M. Pei include the JFK Library, the East Wing of the National Gallery, and the Glass Pyramid at the Louvre in Paris. The acoustician for the Eugene McDermott Concert Hall was Russell Johnson with Artec Consultants, Inc. The main canopy weighs 42 tons, the side canopies weigh 15 tons each, and the rear canopy weighs 12 tons.
