Travel Note
Booking in advance is required for car reservations. These fill up quickly, so be sure to reserve ASAP if you'd like to bring your car to the island. Passenger tickets never sell out, and you can leave your car at the off-site location (see separate tab with info) with shuttle service to the ferry terminal. Booking Instructions for Vehicles: Make an account (top left, "New User"). The system will ask for your vehicle information (mainly for size as only so many cars fit on the boat). The license plate really doesn't matter, so you can put anything as a placeholder if you plan to rent a car. Book round trip from Wood's Hole to Martha's Vineyard. There are two ports on the island (Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs); they are proximal enough that it doesn't matter which one you choose. The boat trip is about an hour each way. Definitely budget extra drive time for traffic as missing a ferry is a sad affair indeed (it can be extremely difficult if not impossible to secure another spot on weekends). When you book, include the # of passenger tickets you need at the same time. If this changes, though, it's very easy to buy non-vehicle passenger tickets in advance or on-site since these never sell out (it's just vehicles that are limited).
Travel Note
For those who wish to carpool or leave their car on the mainland, off-site parking is available near Wood's Hole with a free shuttle bus that runs to and from the ferry terminal. Note: There are a few different lots that rotate depending on volume and season, so just be sure to check the website on the day of travel to confirm which location is active.

Hotel
Styled as a quasi-rustic summer camps for adults with a selection of bungalows and cabins for rent. This is about 15 minutes from the Wedding Venue, and is likely to have the best rates.

Rustic and quaint, walking distance to a small fisherman’s village. Very close to two lobster shacks where we often eat on the docks at sunset!
Hotel
A lovely spot squarely in the middle of the island. Has a wonderful restaurant associated with the Inn, and is around the corner from Lambert’s Cove beach—a must see on the itinerary.
Hotel
Fabulous spot with all the trappings of a more traditional hotel experience. Fun fact, Julia used to be a waitress here and once served Art Garfunkel, who did not laugh at her parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme joke...

If Oscar Wilde came to the island, this is where he would stay. It’s one of our truly favorite special occasion spots on the island, and a charming time capsule from another era.
Hotel
This is a cheeky new spot that we’ve heard fantastic things about through the grapevine. Apparently sumptuous with all the necessary implements of a boutique hotel.
