Question

What do I need to know about COVID?

Answer

Currently, you do not need a negative COVID-19 test when entering France regardless of country of origin, if you are fully vaccinated. You will need a vaccination card. (*Note: While this is not currently required to enter restaurants, etc., you should keep a picture on your phone). As of now, a COVID-19 test which is confirmed by a third party is required within 24 hours of flying home to re-enter the US. There are a few options for this: 1. Ordering at-home tests to bring with you (we recommend this) -You can order a 6-pack of these for $150 | visit: https://www.emed.com/products/covid-at-home-testkit-six-pack -You can order a 2-pack of these for $70 | visit: https://store.optum.com/shop/products/abbott-binaxNOW-COVID-19-ag-at-home-test-kit-2-pack/ 2. Going to a pharmacy to get tested Most pharmacies in Menton - which are walking distance from the hotels - also offer COVID-19 tests. If you plan on getting tested at one of these, you can walk in and schedule an appointment at some point throughout the weekend (you can also usually get a test on a walk-in basis). We have used the Pharmacie des Jardins near the Hotel Chambord on the main town garden. *Note: Most pharmacies in France are closed on Sunday. Please note that pharmacies only perform Antigen tests (which is required to return to the US). If you are traveling elsewhere, it is possible you will need a PCR test so be sure to check the country's government site to ensure you are getting the right test. 3. Getting tested at the airport There is an option to get a test at the Nice Airport. They do not take reservations, so we recommend factoring in at least 1 hour to your travel time in case you need to wait for a test (*Note: Given the uncertainty of wait time, we recommend this as a back-up option only). We will continue to update the website and notify everyone once it gets closer! You can also look at the following website for updates: https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/covid-19-international-travel

Question

What is the weather like?

Answer

The weather in Menton during May is often in the low 70's during the day and in the low 60's (or high 50's depending on the day) in the evening so you may want to bring a light jacket/sweater or wrap, as it can feel especially chilly with the ocean breeze. We will have pashminas for anyone who gets chilly on Saturday evening!

Question

If the wedding is in Italy, do I need to bring my passport?

Answer

Although the buses will be crossing the Italian border, guests will not need to bring their passports to the wedding on Saturday. We do recommend having a picture of your passport on your phone (or printed copy) just to be safe!

There are several salons in Menton, should you want to get your hair or makeup done during the weekend. Below are two that we recommend, otherwise please refer to Google to take into account the proximity to your hotel/Airbnb and reviews! Salon Jean-Claude Biguine (3 Av. Edouard VII, 06500 Menton, France) Salon Murphy (17 Rue Prato, 06500 Menton, France)

Question

Do I need a converter to plug things in?

Answer

Yes! We recommend buying a travel adaptor for France before your trip, so you can plug in things like phone chargers, hair tools, etc.

Question

Is there anything I should know about taking the train?

Answer

The train is fairly easy to navigate and stops in several towns along all of the main French and Italian Riviera towns. One thing to note is that it tends to close by midnight. We recommend booking your ticket(s) at https://www.thetrainline.com/
