Elijah and Jules first met at in freshman year at UCLA, living at opposite ends of the same dorm floor. It wasn't until joining the same student theatre company, LCC, that they started talking and quickly became best friends. They did improv together, co-wrote and co-directed scripts, and co-ran LCC's marketing department for a year together. They began dating in January of sophomore year, graduated together, and moved to Norfolk, Virginia for Jules's 4 years of medical school, before ultimately coming back home to California. They adopted a puppy named Kipela together, and Elijah picked up historical fencing as a serious hobby. Elijah proposed to Jules first, with a ring he designed and commissioned from Jules's favorite jeweler, to publicly establish their intention to marry. Once Jules found a date they would be able to hold a wedding—a real challenge given their demanding schedule as a doctor!—they proposed back to Elijah (who does not like to wear rings) with a rapier they designed and commissioned from his favorite swordsmith. By the time of the wedding, Jules and Elijah will have been dating for over 10 years. It's about damn time!
