You will need your passport & your passport should be valid for at least 6 more months when entering Europe. UPDATED INFO FOR EUROPEAN TRAVEL - APRIL 2026: There have been changes to how entry/exit into the EU works. This new system is called "EES". You still need your passport, but to save time, you can pre-register on an app and get through customs faster if you are entering the EU through Portugal. What is EES? The Entry/Exit System (EES) is a new system for travelers from non-EU countries. It replaces passport stamping. You will go through the EES during your first point of entry into the EU and on your way out. If you have a layover in the EU on your way to Portugal, please take into account potential delays with this new system. What is Required? Upon your first entry into the EU, you will need to provide fingerprints and a facial image. If you have a biometric passport (a small gold rectangle on the front cover at the bottom), you are eligible for pre-registration. You can save significant time by using the "Travel to Europe" mobile app. Pre-registration is currently only available for those entering into the EU through PT or Sweden. Other EU countries do not offer the pre-registration option at this time. Within 72 hours of your arrival in EU, download the app to pre-register. When you land, look for the "Mobile App" lanes for faster entry. If your passport does not have the biometric chip icon, you can still enter Portugal without issue, but you will not be able to use the mobile app to pre-register. Upon landing in Portugal, proceed to the "All Passports" or staffed border control booths. This manual process can take extra time. For more information, visit this website: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/en/ees Starting late 2026, Brazilians, along with citizens of other countries with visa-waiver agreements, will need an ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) for short stays in Portugal. This should not be in effect just yet

There are several ways! Our top recommendation is to fly into Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) and Uber to the hotel from there. If you choose to fly into Lisbon, there are various domestic flight and train options to Braga. Renting a car is also a great option if you want to explore Portugal along the way - the Lisbon airport is about a 3.5 hour drive to Braga city center.
Totally up to you! From our previous trips, we have found it easy (and most affordable) to order Ubers. However, we have always enjoyed renting a car and exploring Portugal! The roads are very easy and safe to navigate. Renting a car is definitely a great option if you plan to explore more on your own or extend your trip.
