Groom
Judy and I were in the same online bible study class back in 2022. One time, Judy, a busy med student at the time, missed a class. I offered to do a makeup session with her, just being a nice guy and all. If you ask me now, all I can remember from that make up class was that she was in a very dark room with poor lighting and a white mug. We basically never spoke again until late 2023. Around September of that year, Judy kind of caught my eye. I just really wanted to talk to her. So I expressed my interest to a couple of friends and also asked for some tips on her interests (they're all friends with her lol). I started trying to catch her eye at church. When I was greeting people I’d specifically try to make eye contact when I waved. Gradually, I was reminding her that I existed. I’d try to show up at group hangouts where I knew she'd be. December of that year, I finally worked up the courage to send her a text (I got her number from the Bible study class before) and ask that fateful question: “Do you have any anime recommendations?” It wasn’t until this summer that we finally did watch some of her anime recs, but through this time, we’ve had so many awesome moments learning each others hobbies and interests and growing closer than I could have imagined. From watching k-dramas or playing tennis together to having tough conversations and helping each other grow, I’ve become fully confident that God has given us a golden blessing to walk in life together. I can’t wait :)
Bride
My first impression of Bryan was that he was a quiet guy. We first "met" through a virtual bible study class hosted by our church. And while we did briefly interact 1:1 back then because he led a makeup session for me, outside of that we didn't talk or hang out. So imagine my surprise (and suspiciousness) when roughly 1 year later, I got a text from him out of the blue asking for anime recs. Although he never ended up watching any of the animes I recommended lol, I quickly realized how easy and comfortable it was to talk with him. I liked how we could openly discuss anything and everything--from topics about personal interests, aspirations, family, faith and more. We eventually met up for our first date over coffee in downtown Dallas. It was memorable partly because I didn't expect to end up hanging out with each other for like 8 hrs straight. But also because that was when we first shared about our personal testimonies. I really got to see Bryan in a different light that day. I admired his quiet strength, humor, authenticity, and caring heart for those around him. He left quite the impression because fast forward to now, I am engaged with my best friend! Thank you to all of our friends, family, and mentors for their outpouring of love, support, and prayers onto us. We look forward to celebrating this special day with you all! And to Bryan, I can't wait to spend the rest of this time on earth with you :)
