How We Met

Written by the matchmaker herself…Ms. Amber Andrews

Megan Reilly started her journey to JP when she decided to change careers-- which involved going back to school full time in a state very far from her friends and family (naturally). After an exciting, albeit cozy road trip to Atlanta, Amber and Maddie were nervous to leave Meg behind without some proper coaching and insistent nagging that Meg start using dating apps. Meg was a tough sell, so Amber and Maddie swiped for her. When they came across JP, Amber read aloud his “credentials” as a proper suitor and decided he was worthy. The match was swift and immediate. Chatting ensued. Amber and Maddie crafted some witty yet intelligent banter, playing it off like they were Meg. It clearly worked because as soon as the girls left for their return flight home, Meg had a date.

The Proposal

Anyone who knows Meg, knows that she hates surprises. Nonetheless, JP knew he had to plan an epic one for their engagement. But he couldn’t do it alone! Two months earlier, when Meg was home visiting family, JP had snuck out to the Ritz Carlton on Lake Oconee and met with an event planner to coordinate their special evening. Countless emails and phone calls followed to get the details just right. But one big question remained- how would he get Meg out there without her being suspicious that something was up? For this, he enlisted the help of their friend Hannah to set the stage. As the story went, she had been gifted a “free lake house for the weekend,” and invited all of their friends out there to enjoy. Even better, the house was right next to the Ritz. So why don’t we all get dressed up and head straight to the resort for fancy Friday ‘tinis and hors d'oeuvres? Everyone was in on the secret but Meg, and weeks of group texts planning the spurious weekend reinforced their trickery. When JP and Meg pulled up to the hotel that night, they were greeted by an unexpectedly knowledgeable and accommodating employee. “Hi, your friends are at the lake. Hop in this golf cart and I’ll take you down to them.” A ride through the woods followed, but then the cart stopped suddenly at a sign which just read “Meg.” And the jig was up. They walked hand-in-hand down a path strewn with love notes, leading up to a wooden, rose-covered bridge overlooking the lake (and the 18th hole). She was floating on air when she said “Yes”, and the onlooking golfers cheered. After an idyllic evening together at the lake, the newly engaged couple returned to Atlanta the next day for one last surprise- their parents and siblings had flown in from Florida, Massachusetts, and Switzerland to join in the celebrations. A weekend of family, friends, and food ensued, and they began to start planning the rest of their lives together as man and wife.
