Things To Do

Sam and Amy have had a great time exploring the Austin and Hill Country area since moving in 2022. See below for some of our favorite coffee shops, restaurants, activities, etc.

Summer Moon Coffee

11601 U.S. 290, Austin, TX 78737

A few locations all over the Austin area - gotta get the moon milk.

The Salt Lick BBQ

18300 Ranch to Market Road 1826, Driftwood, TX 78619

The place we take all out-of-town guests to try good Texas BBQ. Lots of seating under beautiful oak trees, and open pits where you can watch the brisket and sausage smoke. Amy loves the berry cobbler!

Cidercade Austin

600 East Riverside Drive, Austin, TX 78704

One of the first places we visited in Austin - Sam's love of cider + Amy's competitive nature makes this retro bar with unlimited arcade games the perfect date night.

Lady Bird Lake

2 Robert T Martinez Jr Street, Austin, TX

One of the historic sites in central Austin, Lady Bird Lake has a beautiful walking trail named after First Lady Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson. Keep an eye out for turtles!

Texas Hill Country Olive Co.

2530 West Fitzhugh Road, Dripping Springs, TX 78620

Great place for olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting with a bistro lunch menu.

Deep Eddy Vodka Tasting Room

2250 U.S. 290, Dripping Springs, TX 78620

Super fun tasting room for one of Sam's favorite Texas-distilled vodkas.

P. Terry’s Burger Stand #29

12680 U.S. 290, Austin, TX 78737

The closest thing to In N Out we have - consistently delicious burgers and fries for a cheap drunk meal that SLAPS every time.

Torchy's Tacos

166 Hargraves Drive, Austin, TX 78737

Multiple locations around the Austin area with a menu full of fun Tex-Mex tacos. We love the Crossroads taco, Baja Shrimp taco, Brushfire taco, and Trailer Park taco, as well as their guac and queso. Make sure to ask about their secret menu, and taco of the month!

Jo's Coffee

1300 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704

Our go-to spot after a weekend walk with the dogs. Our favorite is the iced turbo!

Pete's Dueling Piano Bar

421 East 6th Street, Austin, TX 78701

Music starts around 8pm, open every night of the week! Plenty of other bars and restaurants around "Dirty 6th" as well.

Mandola's Italian Kitchen

4301 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749

A favorite of ours when we want fresh-made pasta but don't want to make it ourselves. Sam's favorite: spaghetti bolognese. Amy's favorite: bruschetta and fedelini pachino.

Terry Black's Barbecue

1003 Barton Springs Road, Austin, TX 78704

Another great BBQ place in central Austin, with cute merch. We love the brisket, pork ribs, green beans, and cream corn! Don't be put off by a long line - it moves fast.

Onion Creek Greenbelt

7002 Onion Creek Drive, Austin, TX 78744

One of our go-to weekend walk spots, in case you feel like walking off the good Texas food! Dogs are welcome on- and off-leash, and one loop is ~1 mile, partially shaded. There is also a small playground for kiddos.
