FAQs

For some of our guests, this will be their first Indian wedding. Here are some FAQ that may help guide decision making. The events this weekend will be somewhat of a fusion Indian and Western celebration.
Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The ceremony will be mostly traditional Indian. You are most welcome to purchase and wear traditional Indian clothing. Woman typically wear sarees, lehengas, or salwar kameez. Men can wear Kurta Pajama or Sherwani. Or of course you can wear a traditional formal western dress or suit. Indian Clothing Websites: - utsavfashion.com - cbazaar.com - g3fashion.com - kalkifashion.com - Etsy.com If you do decide to order Indian clothes, we suggest doing it earlier rather than later as it can take up to a month sometimes to arrive. The reception will also be a combination dressed event. Feel free to wear what you came in for the wedding, or change into western attire.

Question

Events of the wedding day

Answer

Baraat (Grooms procession): The groom's arrival begins the ceremony. Surrounded by friends and family dancing and singing in a large circle, he meets his bride's family at the entrance to the venue. The bride's mother then welcomes the groom and his family. The families embrace and greet each other with the exchange of floral garlands. Then, the groom is escorted to the altar (mandap) to await his bride. Make sure to bring sunglasses and comfortable shoes for the procession. Ceremony: There will be a program available to decipher the wedding ceremony and related rituals. While you’re trying to pay attention to the ceremony, you might notice people get up to leave and come back, and people might start talking - This is very normal. Reception: Come hungry and thirsty!

Question

I noticed there is a gap between the wedding and the reception. What normally happens during this break?

Answer

This is a time for our guests and the the wedding party to rest and change (if needed). Normally, the wedding party will be taking photographs for a few hours and doing outfit changes. During this time, it is recommended that our guests go back to their hotel rooms/homes and relax until the reception.

Question

Transportation

Answer

The only arranged transportation will be offered to and from the reception. The shuttle will pick up guests at the Springhill Suites (10593 Fairway Dr. Roseville, CA) at 4:45 pm and will leave the event to head back to it's original destination at 11:00 pm. The hotels listed under the "lodging" tab are all located within close walking distance of each other. You do not need to be staying at the hotel the shuttle is picking passengers up at to be able to use the shuttle. Please try to arrive to the pick up spot 15 minutes prior to bus departure time to avoid missing it.
