Cheng and Joyce have been each other’s favorite person for a decade—but their story began even earlier. They first met at 16 years old, when they were appointed co-chairpersons of their high school concert. Cheng’s first impression of Joyce was that she was charming and enigmatic —something about her stood out. Joyce, on the other hand, didn’t think much of him at the time. It wasn’t until they both ended up at Sunway College for their pre-university program that their paths truly began to intertwine. As they got to know each other better, something shifted. Slowly but surely, a friendship blossomed—and then something more. When Cheng finally confessed his feelings, it marked the beginning of a love that would grow for years to come. Throughout the years, Cheng and Joyce have supported one another through every season of life. Despite the challenges of a long-distance relationship—Cheng building his career as an actuary in Singapore, and Joyce serving as a medical officer practicing anaesthesiology in Johor Bahru—they remained committed, caring for each other with unwavering effort and devotion. What truly connects them is their shared love for good food and adventure. From hidden local gems to breathtaking destinations abroad, they’ve explored the world together, one bite and one beautiful view at a time. Then, on July 15, 2024, atop a snowy mountain beside a frozen lake, Cheng got down on one knee and asked Joyce to marry him. She said yes.
