Some love stories begin with fireworks or grand gestures. Ours began with…Facebook. Even though we spent most of our childhood unknowingly orbiting each other—same middle school, same church, same youth group, even the same high school—we didn’t officially meet until college. On September 14, 2008, Justin made the bold move every millennial knows too well: he slid into Joslyn’s DMs. And just like that, the story began. By December 1, 2008, Justin had asked Joslyn to be his girlfriend. (Spoiler: she said yes!) They dated through Joslyn’s undergrad years and Justin’s grad school years, filling that time with adventures, laughter, and the usual mix of lessons learned along the way. But in 2014, they realized they needed to grow separately before they could grow together. They tried the whole “let’s just be friends” thing, but…that didn’t really stick. From 2014 to 2020, life took them in different directions. Joslyn moved to California to coach track and field, while Justin stayed in Illinois coaching basketball (naturally). Then, out of nowhere, Justin sent a simple “Happy Birthday Pooh” (his nickname for Joslyn), and six years of silence melted away. The conversation just…never stopped. By 2022, long-distance phone calls weren’t enough. Joslyn traded California sunshine for Illinois winters (that’s love, people) and started a new career closer to Justin. Sure, “closer” still meant a five-hour drive, but Justin had a simple solution: “Why don’t you just move in?” And in March 2025, Joslyn packed up and moved to Missouri to start the next chapter of their lives together. Then, on May 27, 2025, while Joslyn’s family vacationed in Belize, Justin finally popped the question. (Emphasis on *finally*.) Joslyn said “yes” without hesitation—and here they are, planning the celebration of a lifetime. Their journey hasn’t been a straight line. It’s been full of timing, growth, laughter, and second chances. But that’s what makes it theirs. And now, they can’t wait to celebrate with all of you—the people who have cheered them on, supported them, and laughed alongside them—because this isn’t just the next chapter of their love story. It’s the beginning of their greatest adventure yet.
