Harris and Josie met at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA working as Summer Research Scholars over the summer of 2018. Harris was working in economics and Josie in psychology. They became fast friends, and eventually went on a first date their last week in Lexington. They've been together ever since, adding a third member of the family in 2022: their dog Blue.

After 5 years together, Harris proposed at Hooterville on August 10, 2023.
