In the fall of 2018 Josie was looking at buying an International Scout 800 off Craigslist but didn't know much about them. She took to the interwebs in search of information and found Dan Hayes. Dan is regionally famous for his work on, and knowledge of, International Harvester. Josie and Dan didn't realize it at the time, but their paths crossed constantly as she worked at Smith Rock State Park and Dan's shop was in Terrebonne. They had a short conversation online and the very next day, by what they now think is more God's divine intercession than happenstance, Dan drove his forklift to the gas station across the street from his shop in Terrebonne and there was Josie coming out of the store with coffee and cigars. Dan realized it was her and invited her by his shop. He ended up helping her with the Scout test drive, running out of fuel for the first time of many, trailering it home for her and asking her out. They were pretty much inseparable after that. They've continued to run out of fuel, break down, travel thousands of miles across America and Mexico, live and work alongside each other and be best friends. On March 8th 2026 they eloped in Nelson Nevada, a small ghost town outside Vegas. Witnessed by a small handful of close friends and their parents, they entered the covenant of marriage.
