How We Met

Match Maker

Josie and Patrick went to Beloit College at the same time, but it took them a year and a half before they formally met. When Josie was invited to a party at Patrick's fraternity, a mutual friend April Apfelbaum decided to play match maker. Josie had told April how she was ready to meet a guy, and April thought she had the guy for her. In true April style, she pointed at Josie and told Patrick "Go dance with her!" to which he responded, "She would dance with me?". Obviously, she did dance with him and they connected almost immediately. Even through the next party that same night, Patrick and Josie kept finding each other. The rest was history.

The Proposal

Pleasant Walk at Pleasant Valley

Patrick was visiting for Josie's birthday. He had originally planned to propose at Lake Geneva, but had sensitive skin due to a kitchen accident... so high temps threw a wrench in his plan. Josie's mom (who was in on it the whole time) suggested a nearby nature preserve with a great view in an outdoor amphitheater. Josie and Patrick went to the park under the guise of walking Millie (Josie's Dog) at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area before heading to a animal shelter fundraiser at a brewery. They walked around for 30 minutes without finding the outdoor amphitheater and Josie was ready to leave. Patrick insisted they keep walking to find the amphitheater. Eventually they found it and when Josie's back was turned, Patrick whipped out the ring and got on one knee. When Josie turned around, the first words out of her mouth were "Is this real??". Then she said yes and they ran out of the park to avoid any more mosquito bites.
