Who knew a simple Instagram comment would lead to forever? It all started in 2013, in math class. Josiah and Beka went from teasing each other, to flirting, to lunch dates, thanks to a bold little Instagram DM (yes, Instagram was definitely a thing back then!). From that first lunch, it was clear there was something special and more than just a cute high school crush. Beka quickly realized Josiah was unlike anyone she’d ever met: smart, athletic, funny, and genuinely kind. Lunches became an everyday tradition, soon turning into movie nights, long walks home, and eventually, their first kiss.

Like many young loves, their story began in high school, but over time, it grew into something much deeper. Together, they’ve navigated life’s ups and downs with loyalty, laughter, and love. From college classes and first jobs to road trips, fitness goals, and late-night video games, their relationship has always been rooted in friendship and partnership. In those early years, they supported each other through life-changing moments that shaped who they are. Their bond deepened as they faced family challenges, personal growth, and the bittersweet parts of life hand in hand. With every season, their love only grew stronger, teaching them what it truly means to be a team. They’ve built a life full of adventure and joy from California road trips to yearly escapes to Hawaii. Together, they’ve carved out careers, starting side by side in busy restaurant kitchens and eventually finding their way to Nike, arenas, and new cities. And then there’s Athena, their tiny, spotted pup who joined the family in 2017 and instantly won everyone’s hearts (especially Nana Mel and Papa Al). She’s been part of every chapter, from muddy hikes and rainy walks to coastlines and sunsets. In 2020, like the rest of the world, they faced the unknowns of a pandemic. But even in isolation, they found joy in the small things: learning new skills, exploring Oregon’s trails, investing, cooking, and playing beer pong and video games—just the two of them and their dog. Some of their favorite memories were made during those quiet moments together. They’ve celebrated milestones big and small: birthdays, graduations, godchildren, surprise trips, and becoming the “cool aunt and uncle” to an ever-growing group of nieces and nephews. They’ve moved states, made new friends, and built new traditions all while dreaming of what’s next, including starting a family of their own.

After 10 years together came the surprise of a lifetime. In March 2023, just days after their 10th anniversary, Josiah pulled off a proposal Beka never saw coming (despite maybe a little harmless snooping). What started as a normal workday quickly turned unforgettable when Josiah walked into Beka’s store with a bouquet of roses, looking sharp and ready to change both their lives. In front of friends and coworkers, he got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him. She said “YES!” (about seven times) before he could even finish asking. That night was filled with happy tears, phone calls, and celebrations with loved ones, many of whom were already in on the surprise. It was a day they’ll never forget.

Beka and Josiah’s story is about growing together from high school sweethearts to true life partners. Through every chapter, they’ve built something strong, joyful, and full of heart. Whether it’s spontaneous road trips, dancing in the kitchen, or cheering each other on in new adventures, they continue to learn and love in new ways. They can’t wait for what’s next, starting a family, continuing their travels (Mexico is up next!), and building a future full of connection, laughter, and love.
