We're getting married!

We first crossed paths in 2021 thanks to a mutual friend… who also happens to be Josiah’s best man. Not only did he introduce us, but he also immediately announced that he knew we’d hit it off. (He was right, though we try not to inflate his ego too much.) On Sam’s first night working at Red Door, Josiah trained her—something he’ll say was “just part of the job,” but destiny was clearly clocked in that night too. From the moment we met, we were basically inseparable. When we left that very first night, Josiah looked at Sam and said, “I feel like I’ve known you forever.” (Smooth, yes. Accurate, also yes.) We officially started dating in August 2021, but it felt like we’d been in our own little world together long before that. Over the years, we’ve supported each other through everything—Sam’s grad school and starting her career, Josiah finishing college and launching his. We moved in together after about a year, with Sam’s dog, Lizzie, already ruling the house, and then added to our little pack when Louie joined the family for Christmas 2024. In July 2025, right before Sam’s 30th birthday, Josiah proposed on the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago. It was romantic, windy, and absolutely perfect. Through all of it, we’ve stayed best friends who have the most fun just being together. We can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with the people who’ve been cheering us on from the start.
