We recommend booking a minimum of two nights on-island, from 8/17/26 to 8/19/26. You can make reservations one of several ways, summarized below. If you think you may want to arrive earlier or stay longer than just the two nights, we suggest booking for the largest range you think you need; only one night’s deposit is required up front, and the date range can be revised up to one month beforehand without penalty. We also suggest booking early, as rooms can fill up quickly in the summertime. Roche Harbor has several different types of rooms available, based on your needs: The historic Hotel de Haro: provides a charming efficiency option. Quarryman Hall: a more modern hotel-room style experience. Historic Cottages: good for families. Village Homes: modern home-style spaces, good for larger groups staying together. Condos: apartment-style units with water views. Several of these units are pet friendly, including the McMillin Suite; these are noted on the website. We have created a room block attached to our wedding that has a selection from all of the above units set aside for the core days of 8/17/26-8/19/26. You can access and reserve this room block as follows: Booking online: 1. Visit the website 2. Scroll to the bottom of the main page and find the Group Login field on the lower right side of the page. 3. Enter the group name: 08182026 (the wedding date) 4. You will see all the available lodging options in the room block for you to choose from. 5. Reserving these rooms for the two-night block can be done directly on the website. By phone: If you wish to book any of these units for longer than the two days, please call the reservation office (hours are 9am-5pm Pacific Time) at: (360) 378-9820 and reference the wedding date, 08/18/2026; they will help you book for the longer window. If you would like to book a room not in the room block, this can be done at the top of the main Roche Harbor website, or by phone from the above number.

Other Hotel OptionsOther Hotel Options
While we highly recommend staying at Roche Harbor Resort (where all the wedding events will occur), there are several other hotel options on island. Near Roche Harbor are two other resorts, Snug Harbor Resort (https://snugresort.com/) and Lakedale Resort (https://www.lakedale.com/). Both offer lodging just a few minutes' drive from Roche Harbor. A bit further afield, there are several small hotels in the town of Friday Harbor, a 20-minute drive from Roche. Airbnb and Vrbo are also prevalent on-island. All of these options can fill up fast during the summer, so booking early is important.

Driving / Rental CarDriving / Rental Car
For local guests, and those looking to spend more time on the ground, driving is a flexible option to get to the Resort. However, as the island is only accessible by ferry, it also requires close planning with the Washington State Ferry system (see the Ferry - Drive On section of this page). From Seattle, the Anacortes Ferry Terminal is an easy 2-hour drive up I-5 to Burlington exit 230, then east on Route 20, where you can follow the signs through Anacortes and to the ferry terminal. You will disembark the ferry at Friday Harbor onto Spring Steet. From there take a right on 2nd Street North, another right on Tucker Avenue, which becomes Roche Harbor road and reaches the resort in approximately 20 minutes of scenic driving. If you are looking to fly into Seattle and rent a car, all the major rental agencies have a combined rental hub accessible by shuttle bus from the airport.

Ferry - Drive OnFerry - Drive On
The Washington State Ferries are a quintessentially Pacific Northwest way to travel, with a lovely, hour-long ride through the San Juan Island archipelago. Ferry to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island: Ferry Service: Washington State Ferries operates multiple routes in the San Juan Islands. You will want to depart from Anacortes and arrive in Friday Harbor (vice versa when leaving). Tickets: Tickets are purchased in advance on the Anacortes-Friday Harbor route (https://wave2go.wsdot.com/webstore/shop/viewItems.aspx?cg=21&c=76), and are assessed for the car+driver, then each additional non-passenger driver in the vehicle. These tickets are good for 90 days from the date of purchase. Single-Ride tickets should be selected, and are round-trip for this route; you do not need to pay for the return sailing. Reservations: It’s critical to make reservations for your vehicle on the sailing to Friday Harbor in advance to ensure your preferred sailing time. Reservations on the sailings back to the mainland are convenient, but not required. Reservations can be made on the Washington State Ferries website (link above, click "Make a Reservation"). For "Departing From" select "Anacortes" and "Arriving At" select "Friday Harbor", then select the length and height of your car (these go in ranges, with typical cars/SUVs being under 22' long and less than 7'-2" tall; you don't need to know the exact dimensions). Then select the desired date and hit "Show Availability". Ferry reservations are released in waves, with the first wave release two months prior to departure, the second wave released two weeks prior to departure, and the third two days prior to departure. Ticketing opens at 7am Pacific and typically books up within 10 minutes, so you need to be logged in an ready to book promptly at 7 am on the morning of the wave of reservations goes live. Check-In: Arrive at the ferry terminal at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure to guarantee your reservation.

Ferry - Walk OnFerry - Walk On
If you prefer not to bring your vehicle to the island (or avoid the hassle of reserving spots on the ferry), you can pay to park at the Anacortes ferry terminal and walk onto the ferry. This may be preferable when vehicle reservations are not available for your desired travel time, as “walk-ons” do not need to make reservations. Walk-ons do need a ticket, which can be purchased at the ferry terminal building at least 30 minutes prior to boarding. You should aim to arrive at the parking lot 45-50 minutes prior to the sailing to give yourself time to park and get to the ferry terminal. Upon arrival in Friday Harbor, shuttle services, taxis, and rental cars (see On Island Transportation) are available to transport you to Roche Harbor.

Travelers seeking shuttle services from Friday Harbor to Roche Harbor Resort have several options. Note that the islands tend to run very casually, so it is always advised to call the services below directly for the most current information and to arrange transportation. Shuttle Service Providers San Juan Transit (https://www.sanjuantransit.com/schedules.html) provides transportation from Friday Harbor to various points on San Juan Island, including Roche Harbor from May through September. 360-378-8887 Friday Harbor Jolly Trolley (https://fridayharborjollytrolley.com/) offers a “Roche Harbor Express” shuttle running between Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor throughout the day from May through September. 360-298-8873 Taxi Service Providers Eco Taxi (https://ecotaxicab.com/): Provides transportation across San Juan Island, including destinations like Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor, Lime Kiln State Park, and more. Airport ShuttlesAirport Shuttles
If you are looking for direct airport-to-hotel options, there are two shuttles available: Island Airporter (https://www.islandairporter.com/) offers convenient, non-stop shuttle services connecting San Juan Island and SeaTac Airport, operating on weekdays (Monday through Friday) with required reservations. For current schedules, fares, and booking information, please visit Island Airporter’s official website or contact their customer service directly. Reservations should be scheduled for drop-off at Roche Harbor. Bellair Airporter Shuttle (https://airporter.com/shuttle/schedules/anacortes-san-juan-islands/) serves travelers seeking transportation between Sea-Tac Airport and Anacortes, the gateway to the San Juan Islands. Advance reservations are required. Please note that while the Bellair Airporter Shuttle connects Sea-Tac Airport to Anacortes Ferry Terminal, travelers will need to arrange separate transportation from the Friday Harbor ferry terminal to Roche Harbor Resort by walking on to the ferry (see Ferry - Walk On) and by a separate shuttle on-island (see On-Island Transportation).

Flying to Roche HarborFlying to Roche Harbor
Flying to Roche Harbor is easy and exciting, with two great options depending on your style. You can take a seaplane that lands right in the marina – just steps from your room or berth! Or fly in on a land plane to the local air strip in nearby Friday Harbor. Seaplanes are a fun, fast (only 60 minutes from Seattle direct to the resort) and scenic way to arrive (the views of the sound and surroundings are truly spectacular). Kenmore Air offers daily seaplane flights direct to Roche Harbor via their Lake Union seaport in the heart of Seattle (950 Westlake Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109). These 45-minute flights provide scenic views and convenient access to the San Juan Islands as you skip the traffic and ferries. You can get to the seaport via taxi, Lyft, or Uber from the airport. Check-in is 30 minutes prior to departure, and does note require the security events of regular airports. If the flights are full they can enforce a baggage allowance of 25 lbs per person, though we have not seen that done on our trips with them. Kenmore Air also offers daily scheduled service to the Friday Harbor Airport year-round. This is particularly convenient for travelers arriving at Sea-Tac Airport as Kenmore Air offers a shuttle (https://kenmoreair.com/ground-transportation/) from SeaTac to nearby Boeing Field where Kenmore flights operate. Shuttle service from SeaTac to Boeing Field can be added at checkout for an additional fee and departs SeaTac 1 hour prior to flight time. Baggage limit for these flights is the standard 50 lbs. Once at the Friday Harbor airport, you will need to take transit (see the On-Island Transportation section) to get to Roche Harbor.

The most convenient airport for the wedding is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac, airport code: SEA), just south of downtown Seattle. While most major domestic airlines fly into Seattle, it is the headquarters hub of Alaska Airlines, which can provide a number of cost-effective flights.
