I came home after a long 12 hour shift to a suspiciously clean house and meticulous lawn. Josh was unusually dressed up waiting in the kitchen. Upstairs I changed into the overalls and blouse He had laid out for me. As I hopped down the stairs I was met with a perfectly practiced Josh on one knee. Speechless I grabbed the ring. On the day I decided to ask Kate to marry me I tried to prepare the house to be spotless. I mowed the lawn. Cleaned the entire house. Bought a bouquet of flowers and made a reservation at bleu (a very nice French restaurant). I had never felt so nervous in my life. Deep down I was hoping she would say yes but worry and doubt filled my mind. I had to make sure I could do everything right in order to make this special. I laid out some clothes for her to change into after work and told her about our reservations. I dressed up and practiced kneeling down in the mirror to make sure I use the correct knee and that my pants wouldn’t rip. I had everything ready for when she came home and then waited nervously for the next hour. When she arrived, she immediately noticed I was acting strange. She was happy to see the house clean and the lawn mowed and shortly after went upstairs to change…I was a ball of nerves waiting for her to come down the stairs. Finally she walked down the stairs and I got down on one knee and asked “Will you marry me?” Heart pounding, I waited for an answer. Instead of getting one she said “whoa!!” and grabbed the ring to put on her finger. It felt like forever but must’ve been just a few seconds. I asked “well???” And she finally said yes!! All the stress and anxiety melted away as I hugged her in pure joy. Looking back I don’t know why I was so worried. I’m just excited to spend the rest of my life with Kate.
