We first met in Scott Hall at Hope College. We lived in the same residence hall and crossed paths a few times. However, it was through our friend Kailoni, one of our maids of honor, that we really got to know each other. We quickly became good friends and found ourselves talking for hours at a time about faith, worldview, theology, and life. It wasn't long before our friends noticed how well we were getting along and how we were enjoying spending time together. We started developing feelings for each other around the same time and some of our friends noticed our compatibility as a couple before we even realized it! It was a Thursday night when Joshua asked Kylea out while they were doing homework in the Student Center. Joshua asked two questions: "What would you say to Jesus if He walked into the room right now" and "If you were to go on a date with anyone on campus right now who would it be"? After discussing the first question for about an hour, and then another half hour dancing around the second question, Joshua answered first and said "If I were to go on a date with anyone on campus it would be you." Kylea answered the same way and Joshua said "Okay! Let's go on a date this Saturday". Two months later, after 3 dates and talking and calling over winter break, we officially started dating on January 22nd, 2022. Since then, Joshua has had the privilege of loving and being loved by the most caring, kind, beautiful, intelligent, and loving woman he has ever met. (Joshua wrote that part, I promise!) Joshua proposed at Fredrick Meijer Botanical Gardens on March 23rd, 2024! Kylea was overjoyed to say YES to his proposal. Joshua is the most genuine, sweet, godly, generous, and patient, and loving man and Kylea is excited to continue loving him through the rest of their lives. We are thrilled to be getting married and for you all to join us in celebrating the start of our life together as husband and wife!
