How We Met

August 25, 2016

Andi's Version: We met on my first day of work at Broken Bow Records. I was meeting all of my new co-workers when Josh made his way down to my office. It wasn't long at all before we became very close friends, and he was spending most of his time down in the Publishing department! I asked Josh to go with me to a Writer's Round at the Listening Room Cafe, and everyone in the office thought it was a date - except for us! It took us about 8 more months of being best friends until we finally got together for real. As soon as we did, I knew I would marry him. It wasn't an "if" but a "when"! Josh's Version: I first met Andi at work, when Juli introduced us. That first day, we had to move a co-worker into a new office to make room for the newly expanded Publishing department. We were moving dozens of rubber ducks off of the top shelf. I was standing on a rickety old office chair, and Juli told Andi that it was okay to grab my butt to keep me from falling, since we didn't have HR. The only person who blushed more than Andi was me!

The Proposal

April 18, 2019

Andi: I thought FOR SURE that we would get engaged on our trip to Paris for Valentine's Day. I mean - I had tee'd it up for him! When that didn't happen, I convinced myself that it wouldn't happen on a trip abroad (those of you who know Josh know that "planning" and "travel" aren't exactly his specialties). When we headed to Turks & Caicos in April, I wasn't expecting anything but a vacation. On our third night on the island, we went for dinner at a little beach shack with tables right down on the sand. We watched the sunset over the ocean with the waves at our feet - everything was perfect. After we had eaten, we noticed a man taking photos of his two children down by the water (they were the only other family on the beach). Josh suggested that we go offer to take a picture of them and see if they would take one of us. When it came time to get our photo taken, Josh dropped to one knee. I was SHOCKED! All I could do was cry and nod my head "yes." The man with the camera was almost as surprised as I was, but he still managed to get pictures and a video of the proposal! Josh: I was planning on proposing the night before I actually did! We were going out to a nice Italian restaurant (our favorite). However, I realized quickly after we arrived that it was the wrong setting. Fast forward to the next day, I snuck the ring to dinner at a place named Bugaloo's (Lord I wish they had a better name). The restaurant was fairly empty, and we had a table close to the water on the sand. We enjoyed a nice dinner, and I was about to chicken out again, but I realized I couldn't keep stalling! I noticed a man to our right, taking pictures of his kids with a backdrop of the moonlit ocean. I suggested we go take a few pictures for them and see if they'd take some for us. After we took theirs, I handed the gentleman my phone, took Andi's hand, and proposed! The man was quick on his feet and captured the entire thing on video. Good thing, because I was so nervous that it's all a blur!

The Elopement

June 13, 2020

A: After postponing our original wedding due to COVID-19, Josh and I decided that we didn’t want to wait any longer to start our lives together. Josh had the idea or eloping out west, and I zeroed in on beautiful Lake Tahoe. We planned the entire event in about 3 weeks with a lot of luck and a few last-minute audibles. On the morning of June 13, Josh and I met at the end of a dock to say our vows. Each of our ten guests was put to work (Paul officiated, Gloria made my bouquet, my mom walked me down the dock, etc.) I was 48 minutes late to the ceremony (because I mapped us to Nevada on accident). And I wouldn’t change a thing. It was the most beautiful start to our lives as Mr. and Mrs. Brown, and now, all that’s left to do is celebrate with our people!
