Flight
Three hour drive to The Surf Hotel, Buena Vista Weekend traffic sometimes adds 2-3 hours to this drive. If flying back home on Sunday after the wedding, please plan to give yourself ample time to get to the airport
Flight
Two hour drive to The Surf Hotel, Buena Vista COS Airport is a small, regional airport. It is just a bit closer to Buena Vista than DIA and weekend traffic won't be as bad getting to and from here. The down side is there would likely be a layover in Denver.

We highly recommend having a vehicle to get to and around Buena Vista. It is a must if you are staying a 10 to 20 minute drive away from the wedding venue. Ubers and taxi's are not readily available here, but MAY be on this particular weekend due to the music event.

Travel Note
Both directions to Buena Vista take around the same time - 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic/day of the week. Expect traffic in both directions on Friday or Sunday. via I-70: This route has more highway roads and takes you through the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel, into beautiful Summit county, over Fremont Pass to Leadville and past Twin Lakes before arriving in Buena Vista. When you exit off I-70, the road will turn into 2 lanes and you will go over Fremont Pass, with the highest point at 11,300 ft above sea level. If you have never been to Colorado, this route will give you many epic views! via US Hwy 285 S: This route is more scenic and mostly a 2 lane road the entire way. The roads can be steep and winding at times. Leaving DIA, you will travel through Denver to US Highway 285 S, which will take you all the way to Buena Vista. Along the route you will travel through smaller mountain towns like Conifer and Fairplay. You will go over three passes (Kenosha, Red Hill and Trout Creek) with the highest elevation point at 10,000 ft. Once over Kenosha pass, there will be wide open plains with incredible views of 13 and 14,000 foot mountains. This route has less areas to stop for restrooms, food or services. This is typically our preferred route from Denver to Buena Vista!
