Officiant
As Susan has coined it, it was love at first shift when her and John first met back in 2011. Whilst selling memberships at NC State’s campus gym, the two quickly connected through conversations on life, from boys to cats to figuring who they wanted to be. The two became each other’s support and family, and Susan became a sense of home for John. In 2019, John got to meet Joshua at the first of our now annual Misfitsgiving celebration. To John, Josh is someone he feels like he had grown up with. John currently resides in Boston, and while he has fledged away from the Raleigh nest, Susan and Joshie will always be home to John and he will continue to find his way back, near or far. "To two people who mean a lot to me, and I hold so much love for, I am deeply honored to lead these two on their special day into their next chapter together." - Johnny

His mother Joanna has become a very close friend and they have pseudo adopted Susan into the family. Ty enjoys playing basketball, attend college sports games, and love on Niles and Minnie, Susan’s two cats.
Wedding Coach
Susan and Leigh first met in 2016 while working at SAFEchild in Raleigh. They quickly bonded over social justice issues, interpersonal psychotherapeutic interventions, pool time, and animals. They’ve been cherished friends ever since. Leigh is thrilled and honored that Susan and Josh have counted her lucky enough to not only be part of their celebration, but serve as their wedding coach.
